What we
offer....
Many people with varying
degrees of disability find great benefits from the close association with farm
animals and horticulture. Here at the Heathrow Special Needs Farm, people
working in our gardens and with the animals, grow in confidence and develop to
their full potential.
As well as the therapeutic
benefits that come from caring for the animals and plants, our aims are to
educate, develop skills, provide work experience and, most importantly, to
foster a sense of personal achievement and enjoyment.
We welcome groups or
individuals for visits or we can tailor bespoke programs that can be followed on a regular and long term basis. Many of our
groups have been coming to the Farm for a number of years, and it is always our
visitors choice as to the activity that they undertake. This may include
anything from petting the small animals, to washing our pigs, grooming the
donkeys or horse riding.
For those visitors who may not enjoy being in such
close contact with the farm animals they may alternatively enjoy a gentle
session in the poly-tunnel, weeding, planting, harvesting or sowing. And for our
more active users, digging in the gardens or poo-picking the fields may be
something they choose to participate in.
No matter what a persons ability there
is always an activity that can be participated in and enjoyed at the Farm. These
activities may be used to support current personal development. We also welcome
the elderly and work placement schemes.
We do not charge for any of the services
that we offer at the farm (except horse riding), we are funded entirely by
charitable donations and are grateful for all donations. So please give as
much as you can afford.
If you are interested in visiting the farm, or
require any further information please contact our Farm Manager, Lisa on 01753
680330.
